WHAT  IS  COSMELAN?

 Cosmelan, an innovative system that targets, treats & regulates unwanted pigmentation, to dramatically and rapidly reduce pigments on the face and body in all skin colours and ethnicities,  used in over 1 million patients world wide.

WHAT  TO  EXPECT

The two-phase intensive treatment involves the application of a potent de-pigmenting mask. This is applied at the clinic and it is not washed off for 6-8 hours dependent on skin type.

The second phase is at-home maintenance, to be continued  for 6 months. "cosmelan #2" is applied daily to enhance the effects of the mask to give continued  reduction  In melanin synthesis & inhibit the re-formation of pigment. This safe and non-invasive procedure treats the source of pigment to deliver a rapidly clearer, brighter and more clarified complexion without the use of lasers.   

WHO  IS  THIS  FOR?

Best  suited for those with stubborn pigment, resulted  from exposure to solar radiation (sunspots, sun damage) hereditary & genetic predisposition (such as freckles) inflammatory damage from injury (past wounds/acne scaring) & hormonal origins, from birth control & pregnancies (Melasma)

WHAT  TO EXPECT AT HOME 

After your mask is removed, your skin may feel warm. The following 3-5 day  expect redness, heat some  swelling, peeling/flaking.  Down-time is about 7 days of redness and up to 14 days  of skin peeling. You will have products to use during this time for calming and hydration. Your therapist will be in touch  to make sure your on the right home-care for each stage of the journey, and will advise when to visit the clinic for check-ins and follow up professional visits to aid healing as set out in your personal treatment plan.

WHEN  WILL  I  SEE  RESULTS?

For best outcome of  pigment removal, it is  necessary to comply with Cosmelan aftercare, for  a period of 6  months, this will continue to treat and inhibit melanin transfer, preventing new formation of  dark  patches, keeping  your  skin clear  and  bright.  Results can be seen  from day 14  but will be most apparent at one month with improvement to all over texture and colour tone. This will continue to improve with home-care. .  Cosmelan  #2  creme can be used past 6 months.   

Cosmelan #2 can be used after laser pigment removal,  for prevention  and regulation of melanin synthesis.  

WHAT  ELSE  DO  I  NEED  TO  KNOW?

This  is  not suitable for:  pregnant/ breastfeeding  mums.  broken, inflamed, infected  skins. 

Patients on prescribed topical retinal, or hydroquinone  & users Roaccutane for 6-12 months post treatment .  Those allergic to any  product  ingredients .

 You may need to schedule this to avoid any upcoming special events while your healing. 

A  consultation will determine if this is the best option or if alternative treatments are advised.

Your  first  week  post  peel  it is  advised to expect  time  at  home/indoors,  away  from  direct  sun,  pools,  saunas, any sources of heat (including exercise) the use of high SPF is needed  daily  in  natural and artificial light.  Extra care is needed in the sun with covering up and regular re-application of  SPF.  Your home-care pack  consists of  7 full sized products to get you started.   expect to repurchase some  items as they will not last the 6 months of compliance.  cosmelan  #2 will be needed around the 3rd month.
